Chinekwu (Chin) Okoronkwo is a natural visual storyteller with a strong technical, lighting and camera, background. She is fascinated by the routes through which we, as humans narrate our lives, our cultures and our societies.

Working her way up through the ranks of the camera department over the last twenty years, trainee/ clapper loader/focus puller, Chinekwu has worked on documentaries, music videos, fashion, branded content, commercials as well as on TV drama and feature films. This has taken her to locations all over the world: Ghana, Senegal, Morocco, the Americas, Kenya, New Zealand, Europe, Fiji, Laos to name a few.

 
 

As a DOP / camera operator, to date, Chinekwu has worked on the behind the scenes documentary following the making of Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker (2019) for Disney/Lucas Films. She has shot films for artists, for the Serpentine Gallery in London, for the Tate Galleries (London) and for the Liverpool Biennale (2018). And, she has worked on fashion films for brands such as Adidas, Loewe, Nike, Burberry for i-D and Vogue. As well as on feature length documentaries for directors such as Kevin MacDonald (Marley, Last King of Scotland) and Laura Gabbert (City of Gold).

Chinekwu has had films shown in competition at Underwire Festival (2017), and shown at Sheffield Doc Fest in both 2018 and 2019.

Chinekwu is a member of BAFTA Crew 2019 - 2020.
